Nearby the Phippen Museum at Watson Lake Inn bed & breakfast, we are well on the way in our first season, and are ready for the 43rd Annual Western Art Show & Sale at the Phippen Museum of Western Arts.
A couple of weeks ago we visited the museum for the first time, the permanent exhibit of George Phippen, a Western artist from Skull Valley, Arizona, left a lasting impression for me.
Interesting (by trade) I found in particular the exhibit of frontier life and how the pioneers cooked their meals with the staples and equipment available, day in and day out, on and off the trail. And there is more- artwork in oil, watercolor, acrylic, mixed media, pastel, sculpture and drawing. And although this annual juried show features well established artists, up-and-comers who create ‘Art of the American West’ are also well represented.
We know that art lovers, collectors and enthusiasts from near and far come to attend this Memorial Day weekend tradition in the City of Prescott for more than forty years, it is an extremely popular art event with some of the nation’s most talented artists.
And while there are a lot of lodging opportunities in town, rooms fill up quickly. And we’re glad to say that we’ve now joined the pool of lodging properties for this year’s show! So if you’re looking not only for a place to stay for the 2017 show, but a unique lodging and culinary experience, be sure to check out our spacious and bright suites at Watson Lake Inn!
But you gotta do it soon, and if you look for other things to do, right here at our bed and breakfast, you may attend a cooking class, learn how to make cheese, or hike to the lake and be away from all the hustle and bustle, at least for a while.
